January Member Spotlight – Kyle Ducommun
Do you remember your first WOD? What did you think on that first day?
I did the baseline workout on my first day. I remember seeing it on the board and thinking that it didn’t look so bad. Well I was wrong. After it was over I collapsed on the couch at the box and sat there for almost 10 minutes trying to catch my breath. Right then I knew I was hooked because no workout had ever made me feel like that.
What kind of results have you experienced since starting CrossFit?
I have gotten stronger both mentally and physically.
What has been your biggest accomplishment since starting at CrossFit Confidence?
The biggest accomplishment would have to be competing in the Festivus Games last spring. If someone would have told me a year ago that I would be competing in a CrossFit / fitness competition I would have thought they were crazy. I didn’t finish in first place but I had so much fun and can’t wait to compete at Festivus in April.
What has CrossFit changed about your life?
I have more energy to play with my kids and overall I just feel better. I am also more aware of what I eat and how much because I know how good my body can feel when I eat well.
What is one goal that you are currently working on?
My one goal right now is to be able to do pull-ups with a lower resistance band. Once spring/summer comes my goal will be to run a mile without stopping to walk.
What motivates you/keeps you coming back?
I would say the number one reason is the competition against myself and other people. The other reason is the community. Everyone is so friendly and people don’t just leave if they finish the workout. They stick around to cheer until everyone is done.
What is your favorite benchmark WOD?
I have only done it once, but I would say that Fight Gone Bad is my favorite. A close second is Grace.

Do you have a favorite song to work out to?
I don’t have a favorite song but I would say anything in the electronic or dance genre. Anything but Disney.
What would you say to someone who is new or considering starting CrossFit?
It can seem very daunting at first but just give it a try. Once you try it, you will be hooked by how fun it is, the chance to compete against yourself, and the community of people that are there working out with you.
What are some of your interests outside of CrossFit?
Spending time with family, cooking and coming up with new healthy recipes or foods to try, I also like watching the Vikings and any college basketball or football.
What do you do for a living?
I am an account manager for CH Robinson which is a logistics company.
What cereal cartoon character do you identify with the most? Why?
I actually had to look this one up to remember all the characters. I would have to say Chef Wendell because Cinnamon Toast Crunch is probably my favorite cereal.
