February Member Spotlight – Jordana Rost
Do you remember your first WOD? What did you think on that first day?
I believe the first little workout I did in the recreational class was an amrap for 10 minutes or so of 5 push ups, 10 sit-ups, and 15 squats. And that actually killed me, my whole body ached for days after- which I was suprised by since it seemed so easy. I remember wondering if I had asthma (I don’t), I was so out of breath that it was a consideration.
What kind of results have you experienced since starting CrossFit?
I’ve gotten lots of compliments on how good and fit I look. Plenty of comments about my big arms and just looking toned up in general.
What has been your biggest accomplishment since starting at CrossFit Confidence?
Convincing my parents to get me new shoes because now I don’t get yelled at every 5 seconds about leaning on my toes when lifting 🙂 But still having the drive to go workout even when I’m tired is huge accomplishment for me since I normally lose motivation to workout after about 2 weeks.
What has CrossFit changed about your life?
I feel a lot healthier, happier and way more confident! It doesn’t cause me stress- like high school gymnastics did and It always keeps me feeling productive/healthy.
What is one goal that you are currently working on?
Rope climbing. I want to be able to climb to the top easily with no set backs, I’m trying to figure out the correct way of doing it without messing something up but am having problems. Hopefully I’ll understand how to do it the right way by the end of this month!
What motivates you/keeps you coming back?
When I don’t workout I feel lazy and gross to be honest. Plus it’s fun
What is your favorite benchmark WOD?
Well my split jerks are at 100 I think. I know I can improve but I haven’t had many classes that focus on just a one rep max.
There was this one workout Todd gave us after Emma was born, the workout was based on her weight and day born and something else. But oh my lord it was SO tiring I thought I was going to die. This is different then what you asked in the question I think but eh
Do you have a favorite song to work out to?
I like basically any hip hop/rap stations.
What would you say to someone who is new or considering starting CrossFit?
Don’t use running shoes for lifting
What are some of your interests outside of CrossFit?
I like to hang out with friends, shop (even though I don’t ever have money), do gymnastics, hunt/fish with my dad, and chill with my dogs, I also really enjoy Perkins and Chinese food
What do you do for a living?
What cereal cartoon character do you identify with the most? Why?
Probably cocoa nuggets because my dad says I look like a monkey since my hands are so big.
